Hi, I’m Esh.
I’m a data scientist, Python developer, and amateur photographer from Wales.
My PhD in particle physics led me down the data science road, a career I’ve now been in for 5 years. I love building ML models to solve challenging problems, wrapping it up in slick Python.
My other passions include taekwondo, skiing, hiking, and a cool pint in the pub with my friends. But my latest enjoyment — which you’ll see predominantly on this site — is photography.
I hope you enjoy my portfolio. If you have any comments or suggestions, or fancy collaborating on data science or photography, hit me up.
My Gear
I’m pretty new to “real” photography. But I’ve been a keen smartphone photographer for a long time. I always keep a Pixel in one pocket.
But around my neck sits a Fujifilm X-M5. It feels like the perfect gateway into serious photography. The film simulations and recipes make it effortless to get great JPEGs, whilst simultaneously shooting RAW for flexibility in post.
Primes
I rotate through a few primes, depending on the situation. I use a Samyang 12mm f/2 for astrophotography, a Viltrox 25mm f/1.7 for the streets and wide shots, and a TTArtisan 56mm f/1.8 for portraits.
Zooms
My only zoom lens is a thicc Tamron 18—300m f/3.5-6.3. But it’s a fantastic budget all-rounder.
