Symonds Yat

The view from Symonds Yat Rock as sunset approached.

Nestled in the Wye Valley and straddling the Welsh—English border, Symonds Yat is a gorgeous country retreat for the city escapists of the south west. The gently meandering River Wye snakes around the landscape, shaping the houses and walking paths along its bank.

On a sunny Sunday in April, my partner and I braved the country roads littered with tractors and potholes to arrive at Symonds Yat Rock. The views stretched far and wide over its titular town, neighbouring farmland, and settlements further in the distance. More time would have allowed us to walk the many paths to and from the river, but for now I hope the photos do justice to the sights.
