Christmas at Westonbirt
Illuminated trees at Westonbirt Arboretum.
Two months after my first visit, I returned to Westonbirt Arboretum for the Christmas light display. It was a mesmerising array of lasers, LED strips, and inventive structures to create a sense of wonder and mystery as you step through the ancient forest.
It was also a chance to test out the white mist filter I bought for my portrait lens. It added a subtly dreamy glow to bright highlights, giving an other-worldly vibe to those shots. It was my first time shooting with my Fuji in such a contrasty environment — bright lights giving way to the dark of the nighttime forest — a real challenge! But I hope you like the photos. If you have any tips on dealing with difficult lighting, please leave a comment below.
